Sometimes, the things you may think don't make much sense could be the solution someone else needs. A while back, someone shared that he was discouraged after not receiving much engagement on a post he made. However, on the next post, someone thanked him for his previous post, stating that it had prevented him from making a serious mistake.

This goes to show that what may seem insignificant to you could be very important to someone else. Don't hesitate to share your thoughts, ideas, and experiences because they could be the solution someone is looking for.

Your content could be valuable wisdom. Don't hold back from sharing your story or insights. It's possible that by sharing something, you could receive more engagement than you expect. So, keep writing and sharing because your knowledge and experiences could be exactly what someone else needs.

As a designer, you need to first of all embrace your design before anyone else does. Your design has to resonate with your emotions first, and then it can capture the attention of your viewers.

After completing a design project, I ask myself these questions:

1. Is this design good enough? Is this the best I can do?
2. If I were my client, would I accept this design for the price I paid?
3. What can I add or remove from this design to make it more appealing and functional?

When you start thinking this way, you won't just be creating ordinary designs; instead, your designs will have a greater impact on your clients and their audience. Design is not just a skill; it's a calling. If your designs aren't helping your audience achieve their intended goals, you're simply designing for amusement and not for impact.

Design for impact! Focus on delivering quality and functional designs at all times, and then the money other designers seek will come to you easily!

Happy New Week! 😁

They keep pricing you less most of the time because you don't know how to communicate your value properly. 💔

Some time ago, I got someone who came to me for a flyer design for his business, and after my whole welcoming process, I told him the price for his design. To him, it was as though I was charging him for the rent of a 5-bedroom duplex.

He wasn't so comfortable with my price, and I understood. You could get such kind of design from any cyber cafe, and save yourself some amount of money plus a printed copy of such design if you want.

I took time to explain to him why the flyer design I will be giving him is quite different from the regular one he could generate using any AI tool or from any cyber store; now I am not talking down on any cyber cafe oooh 😁

I showed him testimonials from previous brands I had designed for and all that..

You can guess his response right. "Oga, this your price is too much; I know who I can get this design from for 1k.". This one got me sha 😂😅

When he said that, I knew where the problem was; he had always known the value of design to be cheap; after all, is it not just to add text, pictures, and color to the background? I wish it was so, eh? If na so, maybe una never tell me sha 🤣🤣

When I knew this, rather than argue with him, I did this instead...

I took time to show him the difference between the kind of design I create, and the regular ones. The amount of time and resources I spend on each design just for it to be attractive yet functional.

I didn't act as though I was after his money, and I wasn't even pressured to step down my price for him. This is where a lot of designers get it wrong; for every slide negotiation, gbammm they have reduced their price from 15k to #2,250 🤣😅😂💔💔 Agba designer 😅

I did this instead... When he said my price was too high, I never tried to argue that with him, so I said, "I know, sir, but why do you think over 40+ brands would prefer me to handle their designs? My price isn't cheap, it is just above your budget. And then I showed him some testimonials from my clients. Sell with testimonials!

Secondly, I advised him to go to the other guy who does design for 1k, so he could save a lot of money for himself. I know I'm a nice guy, don't tell me 😂😅.. Now mind you, I said this respectfully. I value my clients as much as their business, as such, I am not just after their money like that 😂

.
.
I didn't get a reply. After about a week, he came back and made the full payment for his design. What happened? I really can't tell. After I created the design for him, he dropped a very powerful review. So I guess he was then convinced about the value he got.

Stop arguing with your clients, communicate your value appropriately, and then, they will pay you YOUR WORTH.

Was this helpful? Let me know what you got in the comments section, and you could also share your own experience with me.

Aways seek to be corrected rather than applauded. Correction is a path to personal development. Focus on the message, leave how it came."

I read this up to 12 times as I kept staring at the board in Raphael Ben's house when I visited him. The message was quite simple, but it meant a lot to me. I have found myself sometimes neglecting correction.

I remember when I started out in the design industry and those days when I sent my designs to my coach for feedback. He would correct virtually everything in the design, even though others thought it was fine.

Most of the people who applauded my designs were neither graphic designers nor experienced in design. When people applaud you, check well, if there are no experts there, say thank you to them and move on; keep practicing.

Sometimes, it can be difficult to accept corrections, and that is why many people remain at the same level.

Many people do not know or value the importance of mentorship, some of them hardly submit to a coach or a mentor, and so, they spend time playing "Trial and Error" in what they should have learned easily.

A coach helps guide you to excellence. They permit you to leverage their experience, copy their structure, apply it to yours, and then expose you to bigger opportunities to help you become better.

I have enjoyed the blessings of mentorship from my coaches, and I have seen serious growth and progress, especially in my skill as a designer.

I thank God for my design Coach, Oluyemi Stephen Dare. The majority of the things I know in design, he taught me. Many of the designers who are doing well today were trained by him.

We both went to visit Dr. Raphael Ben, the CEO of Grin Visuals and also my Grand Dad in design. I was so excited to meet him again, and the moments shared with him were priceless. The words he spoke to me were inspiring and ignited a fresh fire in my passion.

Many of the design coaches you know are trained directly or indirectly by him, including my Coach. These men chose the path of impact and relevance, and I choose to celebrate them greatly today.

Thank you, Dare Yemi, Thank you, Dr. Raphael Ben. Your impact on my life is substantial. ❤️❤️❤️
