What a beginner should know about business growth

Business growth is one thing every business should always consider.
Business growth involves:
Increase sales
Expand into new market or develop new products or services

Imagine this, a school running for 10 years and still has population of 30 pupils. Do not have qualified teachers (underpays the staff).

Now imagine a school who started with a population of 10 and over ten years increase to 200 pupils and has 3 new buildings. Increase the staff salary every 2 years. And gives scholarship to it's pupils.

The difference is the vision the owners has for the business.

To grow your business you must:
✓ Know your niche: it is essential that you choose which market you want to grow in from the beginning.

✓ Know your target audience: You should be able to tell who your target audience are. Whether children or adults or from age 14-30 .

✓ Fund your business: A good business invests in it's growth, funding ensures that things runs smoothly in the business

✓ Build a sales funnel: it is essential to capture leads in your business. You can do this by giving out free high value content offer and creating a good guarantee and offers.

✓ Build an online presence: this one is quite essential. When your customers who have heard about your somewhere are searching for you. A good place to be with be online. Also it build trust, connection, loyalty, ensures brand awareness with your customers.

How to expand your business with various tactics
• Have a brand strategy: A business creates brand awareness to existing and new customers to build trust.

• Products development: This is where a business creates new products so as to make sales

• Market expansion: This is where business tries to reach new customers through their products.

• Vertical integration: where a business begins to produce their own products or a key item for a product.

• New channel: The business offers products through new advertising channels.

• Diversification: A business produces new product for a new market instead of targeting the usual market

• Have a vision: this helps in keeping the industry on her toes.

Bad Versus Good Branding
Do you know why the woman at the junction of your bus stop have not grown in her business even if she has been selling food stuff for the past 10 years?

It is due to lack of brand strategy and obviously not the devil's handwork. She does not know how to present her business!

Bad branding is inconsistent, does it know the competition, does not have a unique value proposition, does not define it's audience.

Good branding is a science. It is not just about having a logo but how you speak and present your business to your prospect.

A good brand should:
• Learn about the competition
• Know what you can do better than your competition
• Define your unique value proposition
• You name should makes you known while your slogan should do the selling
• You logo should say something about your brand, should have an expression.
• Have a good website to connect with your customers

What is a brand?

Brand is the identity and story of a company that makes it stand out from the competiton that sell similar products. Examples of brand are Apple, Samsung, Gucci, Mary Kay, Dominos etc.

Importance of branding in marketing
• Consistency
• Loyalty
• Brings new customers to the business.
• Helps customers to remember your business.

What comes to mind when you hear sales?

Is it Ade who sits in an office making cold calls to about 300 people in a day? And makes sales from 5 people.

Or

Is it Emeka who writes a sales letter in an office to over 30000 target customers and gets a 300% response from that one sales letter over a course of time?

Well, both are salesmen but the later has a more effective strategy.
In the world today, digital marketing has taken prominence because the world has advanced online.
There is more to be achieved by having your brand online.

Mind you sales can be online and offline. You can do both.

Sales is important to every business. Every business owner should be the number one sales person in their company. If you are not selling in your business. You do not have a business.

So what comes to mind when I hear sales; having an effective sales strategy to make money online and offline.

What is sales?

Sales is a term used to describe the activities that lead to the selling of goods or services.

Basic knowledge is:
• knowing how your product works
• What value it provides
• Why your consumer need to get your product.

To achieve effective sales
1. Know everything about your product: You have to know everything about your product. From the features to the benefits it can give to your customers. You have to conduct market research.

2. Know your target audience: It is essential to know your target audience. From general information to indepth information.

For instance you would want to know about their
• Age, location, names
• where they are on the internet
• What are their pains, desires, hopes and dreams
• what language they speak or use when searching for your product. etc
To have an effective strategy; create a customer avarter.

2. Overcome objections: What objections do your product have or your customers have. The most successful sales letter. Answers these objections so as to lead the customer to buy.

3. Generate leads: For a business to grow. It must continuously generate leads for it's business.
You can do that by
• Understanding the buyers persona
• Create engaging content
• Attract the right audience
• Give a high value content
• Get their contact

4. Customer relationship management: You can have everything going but if you leave this out. It is like giving your customers to your competition free of charge. You must know how to have good standard relationship with your customers.

5. Call to action: Your customers need to know that they have to buy and now. This is by telling them to make an order. You can input urgency here too.
