I was beyond shocked!
when I touched this guy, and he turned to look at me uttering the most incoherent sentence I've ever heard from someone so well dressed.
no, no don't get me wrong.
I was just trying to find my way around this new area and the streets were just looking alike.
my phone was dead so the Google map that was my guide now couldn't be accessed
and worst of all, I couldn't even reach my friend whose house I was headed.
Omo! at this point I was already contemplating going back home
but when I remembered that I had initially intended to collect #550 from Bisi as my transport fare home after he must have fed me for that day, I couldn't do any other thing than sign.
God, what a day!
Bisi never mentioned to me that 128b Ifako road was a place at the end of the earth!
"I for jejely stay for my house soak garri in peace and sleep" was the one thought on my head as I turned to ask the nearest person for directions.
"Abeg brother, you sabi where 128b Ifako road dey? e be like say I don loss oo" I asked this fair complexioned guy to my right on the street.
He wore a faded jean with a fairly neat white shirt tucked in on one end. He carried a Lenovo laptop bag which I felt was quite odd since he was on a bathroom slippers but I immediately waved off that thought.
well, until brother - white - shirt turned around muttering to himself
"The cheese is whispering secrets to the clockwork oranges, but the office keep stealing my socks! If I don't find the my pencil car through the traffic and the stapler is plotting against me. check you bag, your bag oooo!"
Involuntarily, my eyes widened in alarm. I tried taking a step backwards, but almost tripped over my own feet.
Trying again calmly although shaking, I took slow steps backwards but I felt chills run down my spine when Mr-white-shirt locked gaze with me and it seemed asif I was in a staring competition with Satan himself.
I didn't wait for the trumpet to sound as I spun around and took off running with my legs almost touching my head and not stopping until I had ran the stretch of that street down to the House numbered 1.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Now this is exactly what we do with our online brands.
We spend so much
- TIME writing "come an buy from me abi you no wan make I chop"
- MONEY on graphics design, brand colour and classic logo that according to you "will attract your potential customers like magnet"
- RESOURCES running ads that generate "quality leads"
and when they finally give your products a chance, and try to patronize that your Arike collections for once, only one interaction with you sends them running away at the speed of light.
why?
because you failed to realize that branding was really never the logo, nor the design, nor any of those visual representation you chose to represent your brand with.
Your brand really is the identity you created in the mind of your audience/ customer/ client encompassing values, tone, customer experience, and emotional connection.
It's the essence of who you are as a business, beyond just visual elements, and is shaped by every interaction and experience customers have with your brand.
... to your ink!
