I still remember how furious and disheartened I was the day I received my first bad review on Truelancer...

It stung, but not because of the one-star rating or the comment "not available for work."

It hurt because it came from someone I had worked with for months, someone who had initially stated, "𝒀𝒐𝒖'𝒅 𝒎𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒊𝒕 𝒃𝒊𝒈 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒅𝒂𝒚."

And you know why?

Because I stopped working with this client 💔

I felt disrespected because of his unnecessary rudeness 😤

You see, I was just a teenager, I didn't know how to deal with it 🤷‍♀️

I came from a "not-so-great" family environment, and I already had low confidence and self-doubt.

Although he paid really low and expected me to work all day, every day, my complaint has always been the topics 📝.

He just wanted me to write SEO-optimized content, not actually help people 🤖

He'd give me 2-3 completely unrelated trending keywords every day and expect me to write one article that fit all of them!

🤯 It was next to impossible!

I tried to tell him it wasn't working, but he wouldn't listen.

His editor told him once that my article article isn't making sense, so he again tried to be disrespectful towards me 🙄

So I lashed out and confronted him, saying,

𝒊𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒈𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒎𝒆 𝒘𝒆𝒊𝒓𝒅 𝒖𝒏𝒓𝒆𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒌𝒆𝒚𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒐𝒏𝒍𝒚 3 𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒘𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒆, 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒅𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒆𝒙𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒕? 🤷‍♀️

Finally, I told him I didn't want to work with him anymore, but he kept assigning me work anyway.

I'd cave in thinking this would be the last article 🤦‍♀️

At last, I had to be firm and say no to his assigned work.

That got him pissed and he left a bad review

Like, yeah, I'm not available for work that sucks! 👋

Anyway, that's one of the stories that helped me see people in a different light in the professional world 🌎
