But over time, I realized that what truly builds connection is authenticity.

People relate more to real experiences than forced perfection. Perfection feels distant, while honesty feels human. Your audience is human.

Then I started sharing not just wins but the behind-the-scenes, the doubts, and the lessons learned, and the journey has become easier.

A better way to approach showing up online is to just be real. Let people see the journey, not just the destination. Talk about your process, your mistakes, and what you’re learning. You don't have to have it all figured out to add value.

For the longest time, I hesitated to show up at all on social media—especially on X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and Facebook for silly reasons.

The fear wasn’t just about posting; it was about being seen (even by people who know me). I was afraid of judgment and of getting it wrong.

So, I stayed quiet. I watched others post boldly, share their thoughts, build visibility, and grow,while I stayed behind the scenes convincing myself I was not ready yet but also wishing to be like these people.

But the truth? I was hiding. And hiding was costing me opportunities.

Then one day, it dawned on me that growth won’t come from silence. I have value to share, a journey to build, and goals that require visibility. That realisation pushed me to take the first step—posting on Facebook Then on Instagram. Then on X. One post after the other, I began to loosen up.

Was it scary at first? Absolutely.

Do I still get doubts sometimes?, yes.

Did I feel awkward? Definitely.

How about now?
Sometimes.

But I did it anyway. And every time I show, it gets easier.

Now, I’m not just posting—I’m engaging. I’m part of conversations, I’m sharing my ideas, and I’m connecting with people I never would’ve met if I had stayed silent.

I had always believed staying quiet online was playing it safe. But the truth hit me hard one day: hiding is getting me no closer to my dreams.

That single realization changed everything.

I began to note that the people whose growth I admired weren’t necessarily the most talented or the most polished. They were the ones who consistently showed up. They weren’t afraid to be seen trying. They were okay with being seen learning. And I wasn’t.

That shift in mindset gave me momentum. I stopped waiting to feel “ready.” Instead, I reminded myself that every time I stay silent, I rob someone of the value I could be offering and I rob myself of the progress I could be making.

The second thing that helped was seeing people share their unfiltered journies.People who started with barely any engagement, no camera, no fancy setup… yet they showed up anyway. They posted, they interacted, and slowly, their voices began to carry. Watching them made me realize I didn’t need to have it all figured out to start.

Brandevo’s Creator’s Quest also played a big part. The daily prompts were a gentle nudge not just to create but to reflect. It gave structure to my chaos and helped me explore angles I wouldn’t have thought of on my own.

Now, it’s easier. I still get nervous sometimes. But the difference is: I do it anyway, I show up.

Selling services online isn’t easy, especially when you’re just starting out. The internet is full of people offering similar skills, and standing out becomes a real challenge. You’re not just trying to sell what you do, you’re also trying to convince people that *you* are the right person to do it.

At first, I thought all I had to do was say what I offer, and the clients would come running. But I quickly realised that selling services requires more than just listing them out. People want to see proof. They want to feel connected to your story, your personality, and your process. And all of that takes time to build.

I’ve had to learn that clarity is key. When people don’t understand what you do or how it helps them, they scroll past. So now, I try to communicate better—simpler, clearer, and more focused. But it’s still a work in progress.

There are days I feel like nobody’s watching. Days when I post and get nothing but silence. But I’ve learned that consistency is what builds trust, and trust is what brings in clients.
Selling online isn’t easy at first. But with time, feedback, and honesty, it gets clearer. It gets better. And most importantly, *you* get better.
