Here's a Simple 7-Step Checklist to follow before sending out an email to customers, clients and potential prospects ЁЯСЗ

(miss any of these + your revenue will suffer!)

//THREAD//

#1 Are you sending to high engagers?

Segmentation is key for email marketing,

Especially for Ecom.

You should be sending *most* emails out to your high engagers.

(If you aren't? You are negatively impacting deliverability in the long run)

#2 Does your email add value (or just sales)?

I've said this many times:

Your emails should add value (at least the majority of them!)

This means:

>entertainment
>educational content
>informational content

This will improve readership + eliminate spam complaints.

#3 Are you A/B testing your subject line?

Different audiences respond to different copy.

In my opinion,

You should *never* not be testing subject lines.

Try completely different types to see what works,

And if you find something that does?

Keep testing still

#4 Does your Preview text entice the reader to open the email?

Preview text = your '2nd subject line'.

While subject lines should get attention,

Your preview text entices subscribers to open the email.

Bake curiosity into your preview text for maximum opens.

#5 Does the Email have just one idea (or many)?

This is a common issue I see with emails:

They're doing too much.

Emails aren't sales pages - you can't fit in everything.

All you want to do is 'sell the click',

So focus on ONE big idea.

Too many ideas lose readership.

#6 Is the email mobile-friendly?

~85% of users use smartphones to access their inbox,

Making it the #1 device for checking email.

So,

All your emails must be mobile-friendly.

Most ESP's make it easy to preview your email on mobile... make sure to use this feature!

#7 Does the CTA sell the click (NOT the product)?

Like I've said many times before,

Your product/sales page should sell the product.

The goal of your email:

Sell the click.

Your CTA should reflect this.

Keep the curiosity going in the CTA.

Example:

"Discover the secret.."
